Young Australian rider Adrian Nestorovic has signed up for his third year in the European Superstock 600 Championship, once again with the Belgian based MTM -Racing team. The 2012 season proved to be very successful, particularly in the second half of the season when he managed top 6 finishes in 5 races, including his first podium finish at the Portuguese round in Portimao. Adrian finished off the 2012 season by placing himself in a respectable 5th position in the Championship.

Given Adrian's impressive progress during 2012, the management of MTM Racing team was very keen to re-sign the young Aussie rider for yet another season. Adrian's goal for 2013 is to win the Stock 600 European Championship and to be on the podium at every round.

Adrian Nestorovic: "I made a big step during the 2012 season and managed to change the way I take on the racing mentally, as well as getting a lot more familiar with the bike set up and circuits. As the season progressed, I felt stronger on the bike and this showed up in my results by getting 4 ‘front row' starts and my first podium in the class at the 2nd last round. I felt that I had the full support of the MTM Team behind me, as well as a well prepared bike. Currently I am enjoying a break with my family in Melbourne, training hard and preparing for the next season. I am really looking forward to 2013 and the pre- season testing in Spain in March. With a fully committed team like MTM behind me, I have full confidence and will be pushing as hard as I can to achieve our goal of winning the European Stock 600 Championship. I would like to thank the MTM Team for all the support they gave me throughout 2012 and for making me a part of their great team once again. Also, a big thank you to all of my sponsors who have supported me and encouraged me in my chosen career."

The Pedercini Team has made a decision with regard to the next season of competition in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup. Team General Manager Donato Pedercini and Team Manager Lucio Pedercini have reached an agreement with Lorenzo Savadori, who will join the Pedercini team in 2013. The young Italian rider, born in Cesena on April 4th 1993, took part in last year's Superstock 1000 FIM Cup ending up fifth in the riders championship standings.

Savadori also achieved a victory in Monza and two podiums - in Assen and Magny-Cours. Lorenzo was Italian and European 125GP champion in 2007 while from 2008 to 2010 he rode in the 125 GP World Championship. With Savadori the Pedercini team prove once again their determination to be one of the top teams in next year's Superstock 1000 FIM Cup after the excellent results achieved in 2012.

Lucio Pedercini :"We're very happy with the agreement reached with Lorenzo. He is a young rider and we hope to take him to his full potential. Savadori has already shown he can battle amongst the top riders of the Superstock 1000 and we'll do our best to guide him through the next championship. Our team is very motivated to take a young rider to his highest level and we are working hard to be ready for the 2013 season in the best possible way".

Lorenzo Savadori : "I'm very happy with the opportunity that has been given to me by the Pedercini family. I'm really excited about next season. I had a huge learning curve in 2012 and probably with a little bit of luck I could have achieved better results, that's why I think we can do even better in 2013. Next season is going to be very important for me because last year I was able to finish in the top five and this year I want to fight for the Superstock 1000 title. It will be a new team for me and so we will have to learn work together and obtain the best possible results. I want to thank the Pedercini team, Kawasaki, my manager, my family and all the sponsors who have had such faith in me".

After racing for Team Pedercini in Superbike, David Salom will return to World Supersport in 2013, the category in which he has scored the best results in his career. The 28 year-old Spaniard, who was runner-up in 2011, signed a deal in the last few days with Kawasaki Intermoto to race a competitive Ninja ZX-6R and aim for the title.

The Mallorca-born rider has taken part in 50 WSS races and has three podiums and the same number of poles to his name. He raced for Yamaha Spain in 2007-2008, and then in 2010, after a first period with Kawasaki Pedercini in Superbike, he returned to the 600cc category with a ParkinGO Triumph Daytona 675, finishing sixth overall. Moving to the factory Kawasaki Provec Motocard.com team in 2011, Salom fought for the title but had to settle for second.

"I'm happy to return to Supersport, a class that I feel is ‘my' own and where I've always had a good feeling these last few years" he declared. "For this I have to thank the Kawasaki Intermoto team and in particular Josef Kubicek, together we hope to score some good results in the 2013 season".

In expressing satisfaction over the agreement, KubíÄek said his aim had been to have Salom in the team. "David has always been one of the protagonists of Supersport: 600s seem to be the ideal category for his riding style. He can count on the support of Kawasaki Motors Europe, and we're really impatient to start this new adventure".

Phillip Island is in the midst of a major facelift, with the island's 4.445km race circuit treated this week to a two day, $3 million resurface to create the smoothest, and one of the fastest race tracks in the world. The Victorian circuit, is set to get even faster in 2013 with the new track surface. The resurfacing operation involves over 5000 tonnes of asphalt being mixed on site in a huge batching plant, and transported at a scorching 172 degrees trackside.

It is the track's first resurface in 14 years and Andrew Fox of circuit owners, the Linfox Property Group, believes the circuit will emerge as "smooth as a baby's bum".

"There's nothing better than having the best race track in the world and the drivers and riders racing here with such excitement on their faces," said Fox.

While the likes of Max Biaggi and Casey Stoner hitting speeds of over 320 kph heading down the island's iconic Gardner Straight, the V8 Supercars also give the place a serious knock. While the cars clock a top straight speed over 280 kph, they are faster than the bikes through the corners, applying added stresses to the track.

The circuit will be ready for racing for January's Island Classic for historic bikes and then in February will host the World Superbike riders for final pre-season testing and the 2013 opening round on February 24.

Honda has announced that the 2013 Pata Honda World Superbike and World Supersport team will be introduced at the Motor Bike Expo in Verona, Italy next month.

The team's four riders - Jonathan Rea and Leon Haslam in Superbike and Lorenzo Zanetti and Michael van der Mark in Supersport - will appear in their 2013 racing livery alongside the team's Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and CBR600RR racing machines.

The introduction will take place at 15.00 on Saturday 19 January on the main stage at Verona's Motor Bike Expo, one of the most popular motorcycle exhibitions in Italy, with Pata president Remo Gobbi and team manager Ronald ten Kate also in attendance.

The factory and headquarters of the team's title partner Pata are in Brescia, just 70km to the west of Verona in northern Italy where the Pata Honda team will visit the day before the team launch on Friday 18 January.

'This is an exciting introduction for us,' said Carlo Fiorani, racing operations manager for Honda Motor Europe. 'Not only do we have some really important developments on the CBR1000RR for the 2013 season, but we also have a brand new CBR600RR to contest the World Supersport championship'.

He added: 'It is a great honour to be able to undertake these two championships with Pata on board as our title sponsor and we are proud to introduce the new team in the new Pata livery in Verona'.

Following on from its agreement with MV Agusta a few days ago, ParkinGO has now revealed the names of its two riders that will take the F3 machine to its World Supersport debut in 2013.

After careful evaluation the choice has gone to Roberto Rolfo, former runner-up in the 250cc World Championship with experience in Superbike, and Christian Iddon, the former World Supermotard and BSB rider with Triumph. The experience and maturity of Roberto Rolfo and the youth and talent of Christian Iddon will be used to develop the Italian MV Agusta F3 bike.

Roberto Rolfo: "I'm really happy to ride in the World Supersport Championship in 2013 with MV Agusta and such a professional team as ParkinGO. I want to thank them for the unique opportunity to ride with such a historic brand in the year of their comeback to races. I am really motivated and I will give my 100% to achieve all the goals and be on the top of the category".

Christian Iddon: "To sign the contract with Giuliano and the Team ParkinGO is a dream come true for me and a huge change for my career! I will have to learn 11 tracks that are completely new for me and will have to concentrate as much as I can but to race with the best will be very exciting. In any case, we have a good package to achieve great results with this team. I want to thank ParkinGO and MV Agusta for their trust. To have a contract with an official team and such a prestigious brand in my fourth year of road racing is a dream come true."

<p><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Former European and CEV Supersport champion Kev Coghlan is all set to continue in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup in 2013 in the colours of DMC Racing/Ducati Manchester. The Scottish rider, who finished 9th overall in 2012 with 68 points and one podium to his name (2nd place at the Nurburgring), reached an agreement a few days ago with DMC Racing for another season in the international Superstock series.</span></p>

<p><br /><span style="font-size: 10pt;">This year's Russian Superbike champion, who also finished off the year in fine style with a good result in the final round of the 2012 CEV Stock Extreme 2012 series at Valencia, will be aiming for the 2013 title on a Ducati 1199 Panigale R machine.</span></p>

<p><br /><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Kev Coghlan and Ducati DMC Racing will be taking part in a series of winter tests in preparation for the start of next season in April at MotorLand Aragon.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 10pt;">When Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing) first got on an Aprilia at the post-season Portimao tests in 2011 he was a revelation, jumping from the very different Yamaha he had ridden in his rookie year to the vee-four RSV4. He won races on the Yamaha in 2011, and in 2012 he would eventually win a single time for Aprilia, near the end of the year, during a season in his team-mate Max Biaggi won the championship itself.</span></p>

<p><br /><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Laverty's Aprilia still needs to be fine-tuned into the 17-inch aluminium wheel set-up, but for him the latest tyres themselves are the main difference from 2012. "We set good lap times at Jerez and I think it shows how good Superbike is and how good a job Pirelli has done with the new tyres," said Laverty. "Everyone asks about the 17-inch tyres and if they are better but it is not the difference in wheel sizes, it is the development Pirelli has done with the tyre. They have really improved the construction and now the tyre is a race tyre. It works so well."</span></p>

<p><br /><span style="font-size: 10pt;">"We tried some swingarms at Jerez and with the 17-inch tyres we are going to have to re-evaluate some things all over again. One swingarm made the bike very stable but we lost a bit of grip in some areas, so we still have not quite cracked what we need from the swingarm but at least we have narrowed it down to two swingarms now. Honestly, there is not much in it, everything is good, and what we have been working on most is getting that front-end feeling. Halfway through the year we were working to improve the feel from the front end confidence and we made a good step at Magny-Cours, and at testing in Aragon and then again in Jerez."</span></p>

<p><br /><span style="font-size: 10pt;">He continued, "We have been trying some different sized forks, different diameters, but either way the damping is working strongly with either fork. That has been the big benefit. We have been using a lot different damping to the direction that Max had taking the bike, in compression and rebound. I think that has been the biggest benefit because before I crashed so much at the start of the year because there was no confidence with it. Max could ride it because he flows and rides very smoothly, but I wanted to attack it, and any time I did that the front couldn't take it. Now the bike is more suited to me."</span></p>

<p><br /><span style="font-size: 10pt;">The Jerez tests were a busy time for Laverty, "We did a lot of evaluation work because we had to understand the 17-inch tyre. But either way the front of the bike gives me good feedback. It was important to do some good laps in the test to show what we are capable of, and it is good for Aprilia to know how strong the bike can be. Hopefully I can pick up where Max left off and win some races."</span></p>

<p><br /><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Laverty, like all his peers is now prevented from testing until mid-January, although it appears that he would be keen to keep going rather than stop for a well-deserved holiday. "I may have a bit of a holiday now, this is a good time for training and I enjoy it and have some holiday with the family over Christmas. This year I was looking forward to riding my bike more than anything. Normally at the end of the year you are looking forward to having a holiday, but when you have such a strong end to the season - especially after such a tough start - I wanted to keep going. I am quite sad that we are not racing already!"</span></p>
